Ceramics In Nature With EarthSol Ceramics
Location: Hyla Park Nature Preserve Date: July 27, 2024 Time: 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. Cost: $40.00 per person (for supplies) Leader: Shinaid Jane Grace, EarthSol Ceramics Number of Available Registrations: 20 Description: Join the Nature Trust to explore clay and nature with local ceramist Shinaid of Earthsol Ceramics! For $40.00 participants will explore their connection to nature, community, and art through this interactive and outdoor ceramic workshop. *$40.00 materials fee required upon registration to hold your spot. Please send e-transfer to [email protected] Cost of the event covers: - Clay materials- Artist’s time (pre and post event) - Use of the Kiln Meet Shinaid: Through clay, Fredericton-based artist Shinaid Jane Grace, relates to our natural world. Within her business, EarthSol Ceramics, designs are inspired by natural patterns, colours, and especially fungi. Shinaid tends toward sculptural perspectives on functional forms— think chanterelles growing out of teapots. This naturalist artist’s work points toward interconnectedness and aims to elevate human connection with nature. Participants will use their hands to create coil-made cups which can be pressed with botanicals. Working with a variety of native flora, participants will be encouraged to explore texture through plant life and clay and learn more about the sustainable and renewable practice of ceramics as an art form. Participants will be able to keep their cup after their process in the kiln. Pick-up will be at the Nature Trust of New-Brunswick’s office, date to be announced at the time of the event. What to Bring: - Water bottle - Sun protection (hat, sunscreen) - Bug spray - Clothes you do not mind getting a bit dirty - A blanket or anything that makes you at more comfortable on the ground |
