With support from the Ghost Gear Fund through Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Nature NB would like to invite you to a full-day, in person workshop at the Mapleton Rotary Lodge in Moncton, NB to discuss current work, challenges, and opportunities related to ghost gear mitigation and retrieval work in New Brunswick and the Atlantic region.

Objectives of the Workshop:

• Highlight and celebrate ghost gear mitigation and retrieval work led by Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations in New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada
• Explore what organizations are active on ghost gear mitigation and removal efforts to identify opportunities to increase efficiencies;
• Identify steps to better coordinate between active organizations and address root causes of ghost gear on the coast
• Review key regulatory and policy considerations to best inform timing and execution of clean ups and disposal
• Share lessons learned and ideas on how to expand ghost gear mitigation and removal efforts, including large-scale clean ups.
