AnnikaAnnika Chiasson, Program Coordinator
Born and raised in Moncton, Annika first worked for the NBEN as a summer student in 2012 and then again in 2013. Little did she know she would come back in 2016. Bringing with her, her passion for nature, art, and technology. She has happily and officially joined the team again!

Zaheera2Zaheera Denath, Program Coordinator
Zaheera Denath joined the NBEN in 2017. Having resided in various locales during her formative years, (including South Africa & Kuwait) she has settled in with her husband and animal family in Albert County on a large acreage coined “the funny farm” because of her unconventional animal husbandry. Her methods utilise as much natural and holistic knowledge gained from her various cultural experiences. She brings this same dedication to her work at the NBEN, advocating for natural solutions to today's issues.

TzomiTzomi Burkhart, Program Coordinator
Raised in the Rocky Mountains, Tzomi moved progressively east in stages before making a home in the Maritimes in 2011. With a diverse background in organic farming, interactive classroom activation, and a love of ecology, coordinating the Sustainability Education Alliance is a dream come true. Tzomi graduated from Acadia with a BA (Hon.) in Sustainability Studies and a double major in History in 2016, and when not in the office, can most likely be found in the garden or the woods - in any weather or season.

CharlesCharles Thibodeau, Program Coordinator
Charles has been with the NBEN since 2018. Originally from Shediac, Charles held many positions in the federal government such as serving as head of the Canadian delegation to the United Nations' Working Party on Pollution and Energy, managing the Secretariat of the International Partnership for a Hydrogen Economy, and as Operating Agent for the International Energy Agency. Charles now lives in Cormier-Village on a 75-acre permaculture inspired homestead.

SamanthaSamantha McWilliams, Administrative Assistant
Samantha joined the NBEN team in June of 2020. She is in her fourth year at university pursuing a BSc (Hon.) in Biology with a minor in chemistry, and is hoping to move on to graduate school in 2021. Samantha is interested in gardening, ecology, and green chemistry. On her days off she can be found gardening or walking her two dogs in Riverview.

Tim has been with the NBEN since June of 2020. He grew up in Moncton and recently moved to Kent County with his partner and dog Lou after 20 years of work and studies in Montreal in the fields of sustainability, youth engagement, climate and energy, food security and small scale organic agriculture. Tim is most familiar with the worlds of small business, community not-for-profits, consultancy, and municipal decision-making. In winter, you are likely to cross paths with Tim on the cross-country ski trails, and in summer you can usually find him toiling away in his garden.

ClaraClara Thaysen, Biodiversity Program Coordinator
Clara joined the NBEN in September 2020 as the Biodiversity Program Coordinator. She is completing her MSc in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at the University of Toronto where she is researching the fate of microplastics in a marine food web. She is broadly interested in how we can work towards a sustainable and healthy future for both the environment and ourselves. In her free time Clara enjoys rock climbing, riding her bike, and spending time near water.

VincentVincent Lambert-Song, BRACE Program Coordinator
Vincent moved to the maritimes from his home province of Quebec in 2021. He is passionate about the sustainable use of natural resources and agriculture. Having studied agro-environmental engineering, he is interested in promoting nature-based solutions for the issues of today and tomorrow. Vincent is most at home with both his hand in the dirt or on the riverbank, retrieving an empty fishing line.
