Japanese barberry (Berberis thunbergii) is an invasive shrub that is commonly sold at greenhouses, and continues to be a great threat to natural forest biodiversity. You will learn how to identify and effectively remove Japanese barberry, which are skills that can be put into practice on nature preserves, or in your own backyard!

This trip will take us for a walk through a mature hardwood stand, where we’ll be paying close attention to species which serve as good indicators of site richness

Come join us at the beautiful Beldings Reef Nature Preserve in Chance Harbour to do some boundary monitoring on the property. You’ll learn how to use the Avenza app, navigate between blazes, and what to be aware of when monitoring boundaries in our nature preserves. This outing will require some bush whacking.

ACORN will be hosting Farm Tours (and potlucks) in July and August all around the Atlantic Provinces.
