2025 has been discussed as the “Year of Reclamation”—a pivotal moment to focus on restoring natural systems, rebuilding ecosystems, and reclaiming lands that have been lost or neglected. This is a year when climate action is urgent, with businesses, communities, and governments accelerating efforts towards net-zero emissions and addressing climate change impacts.

Restoration of natural ecosystems such as forests, wetlands, and coastal areas plays a crucial role in both biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation.

The Atlantic Chapter of the Canadian Land Reclamation Association invites you to join us for our Fall 2025 Reclamation Symposium in Sackville, New Brunswick on October 16th, 2025.

Join The Climate Risk Institute for a deep dive into the challenges and opportunities of advancing adaptation implementation in Canada’s natural resource sectors.

The Climate Risk Institute is proud to host an inaugural webinar series to mark the official launch of Advancing Implementation in Canada’s Natural Resource Sectors — a free, online peer learning community dedicated to advancing climate change adaptation implementation in practice. As the group’s first offering, the series provides a unique opportunity for professionals across forestry, mining and energy sectors to both share their own experiences and learn from others’ real-world approaches to adaptation implementation.

Join us in the beautiful Nerepis watershed this fall to experience a day full of great outdoors, community bonding and meaningful impact. Through this plantation drive we will be committing ourselves to creating robust ecosystems and thriving habitats for the natural world and in turn for ourselves.

No experience is needed for this family friendly event and can be a great opportunity for the little ones to partake in creating a greener future for themselves. Only things needed are your energy, and enthusiasm and we will take care of the tools, gloves and saplings for plantation.

The day will begin with a presentation during which we will explore critical risks that can disrupt forest ecosystems in a changing climate. In the afternoon, we will take a walk in the park to conduct on-site case studies. We will assess various risks and discuss potential mitigation strategies.

Two foresters from the York-Sunbury-Charlotte Forest Products Marketing Board will be guiding us through the workshop:

• Anne MacKnight – Silviculture Manager, Registered Professional Forester
• Chris Higgins – Registered Professional Foreste
