The NBEN is excited about its upcoming annual Climate Change Adaptation Collaboration conference. 

November 3^rd & 4^th

This conference is shaping up to have a valuable array of speakers that will appeal to many sectors in climate adaptation.  If you are a land-use planner, agriculturist, muncipality, housing developer, or someone who works in climate change adaptation, there will be something for you.  

When proposing climate change adaptation strategies, measures, projects, etc. how do co-benefits play their role in helping the broader community accept them?  Are there projects with goals that are outside of climate adaptation, but the co-benefit is that they will address climate change?  

Through this conference, we will explore how to leverage (take-advantage of) programs that address other issues, but can help (or reap the benefit) with climate adaptation.  And we will see how climate adaptation co-benefits community by helping with health issues, and more!

This conference is for land-use planners, decision-makers, and other stakeholders working on climate adaptation and mitigation.  Join us in this exploration of ideas, and making the connections.

The steering committee of the Climate Change Adaptation Collaborative is in the process of putting together their annual Climate Change Adaptation Conference.  This year will focus on how climate adaptation can tie into the sequestration of carbon; the various avenues to capture, store, and reduce the release of carbon into the atmosphere.

When a relationship exists between different species allowing the collaboration between the species to the advantage of  either one or both parties, it is called 
symbiosis.

The Climate Change Adaptation Collaborative, Children's Environmental Health Collaborative, and Sustainability Education Alliance—collaboratives under the NBEN—aim to explore this type of relationship and see how, together, we can symbiotically drive environmental action.

This conference will offer:

• live interpretation between French and English
• a catered lunch and health breaks with coffee, teas, and snacks
• a great array of speakers, workshop hosts and guides
• opportunities for networking and creating space for future collaboration

This bilingual event, featuring live interpretation, will be of interest to planners, community staff, local non-governmental organizations, health advocates, representatives of provincial and municipal governments, industry, academics and citizens who wish to contribute to the development of a resilient New Brunswick.

This year’s conference will look at when adaptation becomes essential to addressing the climate issues our communities are facing. When do we have no choice but to determine how to become resilient in the face of heat waves, drought, rising seas, flooding, food insecurity, and more? What are the health effects on the people?
