Making Tracks Together - Alasunteka’ti’qw wastewiktuk

The Sustainability Education Alliance, a collaborative dedicated to promoting a culture of sustainability education in the province, is organising a free bilingual half-day networking event in collaboration with Esgenoôpetitj Watershed Association and Atlantic Canada Climate Network. It will be taking place at Daly Point Nature Reserve near Bathurst. There will be a fire circle, Mi'kmaw cultural teaching, snowshoeing, a guest talk on circular economics, and a strategic planning activity. Lunch will be provided. We welcome Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, teachers, government, and non-profit organisations to join us for a fun and informative time!

Mi’kmaw Elder/knowledge keeper Connie Sewell will be giving an opening prayer at the fire circle and sharing cultural teachings. We will be serving hot chocolate while we have our fireside chats. Our speaker on circular economics is Jamie Latvaitis with Climate Reality Project Canada. Circular economics is an alternative to the non-stop growth of the capitalist economy. We will learn about how damaging the non-stop growth model is and learn why a regenerative model is more sustainable. To learn more check out this TedTalk by Kate Raworth.

We will share a lunch together provided by Atlantic Superstore then we will dive into the most recent draft of SEA’s new strategic plan and seek feedback. After spending time indoors being cozy, we will put on our snowshoes and head out for a walk along Daly Points gorgeous trails for some networking and discussion time.
