As adaptation initiatives grow in scope and complexity, the ability to monitor, assess, and improve their effectiveness and efficiency must also grow. For example, process-based indicators such as “number of total participants” cannot fully assess the impact of large multi-stakeholder adaptation efforts. What then, should practitioners use? This event is intended to build foundational knowledge about evaluation and how it can be utilized to monitor and improve adaptation work. Patricia King (Executive Vice President, Insights) and Sabrina Anderson (Qualitative Manager, Insights) of Dig Insights will lead the session. There will be presentations on evaluation basics, breakout group discussions, and case study examples from Dig Insights’ work with organizations such as CLIMAtlantic, ClimateSense, and Government of Prince Edward Island on evaluation of climate adaptation training, programs, service delivery, etc.

Nature Miramichi’s guest speaker at the April 4th meeting is David Mazerolle, an ecosystems scientist and botanist with Parks Canada.

“My talk will focus on climate change adaptation approaches in the conservation of species at risk in coastal and forested habitats. The title would be ‘Impacts of Climate Change and Related Major Storm Events on our Rare Plants & Lichens: Conservation Approaches in a Rapidly Changing Environment’.

As an added bonus side-show, I could also present some nice spring wildflower photos if we have time.”
