TransCanada Energy East Pipeline, National Energy Board, Public Consultation, 2013-2017

On August 8, 2016, in Saint John, New Brunswick, the Board offerred panel sessions for registered intervenors in 10 communities along the pipeline route.
The National Energy Board introduced new Damage Prevention Regulations and held comment periods from April 29th to September 30th, 2016, for input on the engagement strategies they should use to reach stakeholders about these new regulations. In 2014, the National Energy Board made 2,500,000$ available in order to help fund people who were interested in reviewing and commenting on Energy East and who qualified for participation and funding.

In October 2013, a video was released Kahsatstenhsera: Indigenous Resistance to Tar Sands Pipelines, featuring First Nations people from New Brunswick. Kahsatstenhsera is a Mohawk word that means Strength in Unity.
It was announced on August 1st 2013, that TransCanada Corp. will move forward with the Energy East Pipeline project. The company held open house meetings between August 19, 2013 and September 12, 2013 in Edmundston, Grand Falls, Plaster Rock, Saint John, Hampton, Chipman and Stanley.
On August 13, 2013, Forest Ethics filed a challenge the constitutionality of changes to the National Energy Board Act that narrow the range of people allowed to participate in pipeline hearings.
