Maintenance of projects and naturalization of rock walls using the Living Shorelines approach
The Pays de Cocagne Sustainable Development Group (GDDPC) invites you to take part in a hands-on workshop presented by Rosmarie Lohnes of Helping Nature Heal. Helping Nature Heal uses materials from nature, advanced science and ecosystem restoration expertise to restore vegetation and to help stabilize shorelines.
The workshop will be held on Tuesday June 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Cocagne Community Park, adjacent to the Cocagne Marina, 130 Marina Street, Cocagne NB.
Evaluating and maintaining a Living Shorelines project:
The first objective of the workshop is to understand the process for analyzing the state of the Living Shorelines project undertaken at the Cocagne Community Park in 2021. Participants will have the opportunity to learn by carrying out maintenance work on various zones: rain garden, berms of trees and shrubs, and flower beds.
Naturalizing a coastal rock wall using the Living Shorelines method:
The second objective of the workshop is to learn how to implement the naturalization of a coastal rock wall to protect against erosion accentuated by climate change. Participants will learn about the types of plants and methods suitable for coastal sites.
Participation is free.
