We are writing on behalf of Natural Resources Canada to invite you to provide input to inform the upcoming 2026-2030 Sustainable Jobs Action Plan.
Workers and their communities are central to Canada’s economy now and as we move toward net-zero. As we build the infrastructure needed for nation-building projects, expand into new trade markets, and strengthen Canada’s position as a global energy leader, workers need to have the right skills, supports, and opportunities—now and into the future.
In June 2024, Parliament passed the Canadian Sustainable Jobs Act, which requires the Government of Canada to publish a Sustainable Jobs Action Plan every five years, beginning in 2025. These Plans must outline measures to advance economic growth and job creation, support workers and communities including through workforce development, and enable accountability.
Success of the Sustainable Jobs initiative depends on collaboration with Indigenous Peoples, industry, unions, equity-seeking groups, and other nongovernmental organizations. Your insights will be vital to shaping an
Action Plan that works on the ground.
Invitation to Provide Written and Verbal Input
We invite you to share your expertise and perspectives in one (or both) of the following ways:
- Written Submissions
- Please complete the enclosed template and return it by October 29, 2025 to [email protected]. Your written input can address:
- Planned or ongoing initiatives within your organization that contribute to sustainable jobs;
- Key challenges and opportunities you have identified as we move toward net-zero;
- Your priorities and recommendations for the 2026–2030 Sustainable Jobs Action Plan.
We invite you to attend a virtual stakeholder session in October 2025 targeted towards groups with knowledge on underrepresented populations and who may have lower capacity to submit in writing. Dedicated sessions will also be offered for Indigenous organizations.
