Glyphosate Science: Cancer, neurotoxicity & endocrine disruption
By Collaborative for Health & Environment
Glyphosate and glyphosate-based herbicides are widely used in conventional agricultural systems around the world and in home and garden products in the US and other countries. Human exposure to glyphosate is widespread and poses serious health concerns, including for children’s health.
The Global Glyphosate Study, a multi-pronged effort bringing together a wide range of experts to address multiple health endpoints, has led to the publication of key research results on the carcinogenicity of glyphosate, as well as yielding information on other health endpoints. The Seattle Glyphosate Symposium, held in March 2026, culminated in the publication of a scientific Consensus Statement on the urgent need to address health harms of glyphosate. In the context of this scientific consensus, in June 2026 the US Supreme Court held that US states may not require warning labels about carcinogenicity of glyphosate because the US Environmental Protection Agency does not require such a warning.
In this webinar, Dr. Daniele Mandrioli will discuss recent findings from the Global Glyphosate Study. Dr. Lianne Sheppard will discuss the findings presented at the March symposium, which was attended by 70 leading researchers from around the world. She will also share the science and recommendations highlighted in the Consensus Statement.
Featured Speakers
- Daniele Mandrioli, MD, PhD, is the Secretary General of the Collegium Ramazzini. Dr. Mandrioli’s research on environmental toxicants and carcinogens includes the design and development of in vitro and in vivo bioassays and epidemiological studies investigations of different molecular mechanisms of toxicity and systematic reviews of the evidence in environmental and occupational health.
- Dr. Lianne Sheppard is Professor Emerita in the UW Department of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences (DEOHS) and the UW Department of Biostatistics, and the former Rohm & Haas Endowed Professor in Public Health Sciences. Her research on the health effects of occupational and environmental exposures includes recent studies of air pollution exposures and their neurotoxicant effects. She has completed terms as Chair of the EPA Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee and a member of the EPA Scientific Advisory Board. She also served on the National Research Council Committee for the Review of EPA's 2021 Formaldehyde Assessment, the Environmental Sciences Review Panel of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, the Health Effects Institute Review Committee, and on multiple EPA scientific advisory panels, including the 2016 review of the Carcinogenic Potential of Glyphosate.
