The Importance of Volunteering in Our Society
Volunteering, the act of giving one's time and skills without expecting anything in return, has a profoundly positive impact on individuals and our society. Far from being a simple pastime, it fosters solidarity and common well-being.
First and foremost, volunteering strengthens social cohesion by creating connections between people from different backgrounds who contribute their skills and expertise to improve living conditions of the population and in our society.
This workshop has the following objectives:
1. Reflect on the importance of volunteering in our society.
2. Consider the impact of volunteering in our communities and within volunteer organizations.
3. Understand the motivations behind volunteers' involvement.
4. Examine strategies to recruit and retain volunteers.
5. Discuss best practices in volunteering.
Facilitator’s Profile
Jean-Guy Vienneau is a retired professor and administrator from the Université de Moncton after 35 years with the institution. During his career, he taught several courses on volunteering and leadership, in addition to offering workshops and training in the field of community engagement.
He has worked as a consultant and trainer in every province and territory of the country, as well as in over 25 countries.He has also volunteered and continues to provide support to non-profit organizations to equip them to better manage and motivate their volunteers.
