Bur Oak Planting Event In MaugervilleJoin volunteer Frank Camm and Nature Trust staff as we work together to plant 100 bur oak trees on the beautiful Noloqonokek Nature Preserve! In 2021, hundreds of acorns were collected by Mr. Camm and volunteers. Volunteers grew the seeds in air pruning boxes in their backyards, with the overall goal of growing them to a sustainable size, to place on our nature preserves. This tree species is one of the last old-growth tree species present on the floodplains in NB, and their populations are continuously dwindling. Bur oaks are a valuable tree in many ways, due to their hardiness and ability to survive for hundreds of years, as well as their leaves and acorns offering a food source for many species. Come join us in restoring the land at Noloqonokek while providing an ideal habitat for wildlife! |
