About Greenlaw Mountain Hawk Watch:
The Greenlaw Mountain Hawk Watch, near Saint Andrews NB, is an important project of the Saint John Naturalists’ Club. We provide important information on the migratory patterns of raptors and changes in their populations and migratory behaviour. We have a dedicated observer at the watch but we depend on volunteers as extra eyes and ears. Read more about this project on our website: www.saintjohnnaturalistsclub.org/GMHW
What to expect:
Meet the trip leader at Tim Hortons in St. Andrews at 8:30am to go over the protocols for accessing the site and for assisting while at the Watch. The leader will be on site at GMHW until 1:00pm, however you are welcome to leave earlier or stay later as you wish. The hike up the mountain can take 25-45 minutes.
Skill Level: Moderate, Somewhat Rigorous
What to bring:
- Sturdy hiking shoes
- Water & Lunch
- Binoculars or Camera
- Dress in layers – no brightly coloured clothing! We try to keep a low profile at the watch site. Doing so will help us see more hawks and maintain a quiet secluded setting.
