Boundary Monitoring at Dolan Woodlands Nature Preserve

Did you miss the Dolan Woodlands Nature Preserve Grand Opening? Come out to the Boundary Monitoring workshop to discover our new addition in the Miramichi region. Participants will learn how to use a map and compass to locate the property boundary lines, learn proper techniques for finding old boundary evidence, and learn how to update current boundary markings. We will be using tools like loppers and hand saws to brush back the boundary line.

Space is limited, so please register in advance by visiting:
Cost: Free or $5 donation towards the stewardship of the preserve
Difficulty Level: Moderate, kid friendly (ages 12+)

What to Bring:
- Appropriate clothing for the weather;
- Orange vest or hat (hunting season precaution);
- Closed toed shoes or hiking boots;
- Water and snacks;
- Sunscreen and DEET free insect repellent;
- Compass (optional);
- Notebook and pen or pencil (optional)

The Dolan Woodlands Nature Preserve protects 41 acres of extensive wetland habitat, including forested wetlands, which provide habitat for many species of flora, like highbush cranberry, wild cucumber, and hawthorn, as well as fauna, like mallard ducks, moose, beaver, and various species of birds and amphibians.
