To support building capacity and expertise at the municipal level for the implementation of nature-based climate solutions in this project, we are heavily focused on meaningful engagement with municipalities. This engagement is centered around two main stages of the project: the development of the cost-benefits framework for nature-based infrastructure, and training, education, and promotion of the cost-benefits tool. Throughout the entire project, we are working closely with the Union of Municipalities of New Brunswick and L’Association francophone des municipalités du Nouveau-Brunswick.
Presently on the second stage of this project, we hosted training sessions in different areas of the province with municipal staff and elected officials on the cost-benefits tool to illustrate how it can be applied in a decision-making context and to encourage the use of it to support growth in the use of nature-based climate solutions in early 2024. The next round of training sessions will take place in fall 2024/winter 2025. Stay tuned!
