Invasive Species Removal: Japanese Barberry Event (Thomas B. Munro)

Japanese barberry (Berberis thunbergii) is an invasive shrub that is commonly sold at greenhouses, and continues to be a great threat to natural forest biodiversity. You will learn how to identify and effectively remove Japanese barberry, which are skills that can be put into practice on nature preserves, or in your own backyard!

This event counts towards certification in Restoration Corps: Invasive Species Removal.

This is an outdoor event so please dress according to the weather.

Japanese barberry is extremely thorny and has been known to attract ticks. Long sleeves and pants are recommended for this outing.

What to Bring:

- Work gloves

- Proper waterproof footwear and work attire

- Water and lunch

- Loppers or garden clippers

- Long sleeves and pants
