Stephanie Seneff, Ph.D, MIT Senior Research Scientist, will talk about her understanding of the role that deuterium plays in the disease process.  She will describe how deuterium (heavy hydrogen) is a fascinating natural element, and how organisms have learned to manage it skillfully, but unfortunately via proteins that are highly sensitive to disruption by glyphosate.

Land Our Teacher

This workshop is open to anyone who wishes to learn how to teach through land-based pedagogy, learn wilderness skills and transfer them to your unique teaching environment. This workshop will offer views on land-based learning and our ever changing world. The weekend will be filled with hands-on experiences and theory of being outdoors with children and how we can provide an environment that inspires life long learning and build attributes to create holistic well-being. Our roster of instructors will lead you on Indigenous worldviews, cooking, plant knowledge, music, working with plants and more.

Book Reading with Emily Johnson Join the Nature Trust for a book reading with Emily Johnson, author of Mitzy's First Time Picking Sweetgrass.

About the book

Mitzy the cat is invited by her mom to go sweetgrass picking for the very first time! As her mom passes the important Indigenous teaching down to the next generation, Mitzy learns that this beautiful plant is a traditional medicine that is used for ceremonies, healing, and art.

About the author/artist

Emily A. Isaac Johnson, is a Mi’kmaq woman from Listuguj Quebec who is a loving and devoted sister, daughter, and friend. She grew up in Fredericton, New Brunswick where she is now an active member of the St. Mary’s First Nation community and works as a doula to help families before and after new babies are born. Emily is also a graduate of the Wabanaki Visual Arts Program at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design where she focused on beadwork.

This is an outdoor event so please dress according to the weather.

Materials to bring:

  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Water and snacks
  • Sunscreen and bug repellant
  • Anything to keep you comfortable (blanket, pillow, folding chair, etc.)
