SUMMARY:Understanding Radon in New Brunswick
DESCRIPTION:1 in 4 New Brunswick homes have high radon. Radon gas is radioa
ctive\, decays quickly and releases tiny radioactive particles. When inhal
ed\, these particles can damage the cells inside our lungs. Over time this
damage can lead to lung cancer. Radon gas is the leading cause of lung ca
ncer behind smoking.Join NB Lung's President and CEO Melanie Langille&nbsp
\; to learn more about radon and how you can protect yourself and your fam
ily.Melanie holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of
New Brunswick\, and a Master of Environmental Science from the University
of Toronto. She worked for 12 years in environmental consulting\, reportin
g for a wide variety of environmental impact assessments\, contaminated si
te assessments\, and human health and ecological risk assessments. With a
technical expertise in vapour intrusion\, she led the development of stand
ards for soil vapour intrusion investigations in Atlantic Canada under the
Atlantic Partnership in Risk-Based Corrective Action (RBCA) Implementatio
