 ime! As her mom passes the important Indigenous teaching down to the next 
 generation\, Mitzy learns that this beautiful plant is a traditional medic
 ine that is used for ceremonies\, healing\, and art.
 About the author/ar
 tist
 Emily A. Isaac Johnson\, is a Mi’kmaq woman from Listuguj Quebec 
 who is a loving and devoted sister\, daughter\, and friend. She grew up in
  Fredericton\, New Brunswick where she is now an active member of the St. 
 Mary’s First Nation community and works as a doula to help families befo
 re and after new babies are born. Emily is also a graduate of the Wabanaki
  Visual Arts Program at the New Brunswick College of Craft &amp\; Design w
 here she focused on beadwork.

 ccording to the weather.
