SUMMARY:Online Engagement Session - Building Connected Communities: Adaptin
 g to the Climate Crisis Through Nature 
DESCRIPTION:Climate change is here\, it is happening\, and it is impacting 
 New Brunswickers across the province.&nbsp\; Nature-based and natural appr
 oaches to adapting to climate change focus on implementing infrastructure 
 that restores and protects natural areas while removing greenhouse gasses 
 from the atmosphere\, reducing flooding and stormwater surge risks\, and s
 upporting biodiversity.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
 Join us for an engagement session 
 in your region to help us determine how nature-based climate solutions can
  benefit your communities\, what barriers to implementation you might face
  in your local governments\, and how we can best develop a cost-benefit an
 alysis tool to support decision-making. These engagement sessions will als
 o involve sharing resources and related tools&nbsp\;to support your commun
 ities in gaining the capacity to implement nature-based climate solutions 
 as well as the preliminary results of a public survey of opinion of New Br
 unswick residents on nature-based climate solutions.&nbsp\;
 These engage
 ment sessions are targeted towards municipal/local government staff and el
 ected officials but we also welcome representatives from local community o
 rganizations and interested local residents.&nbsp\;
 There will be engage
 ment sessions in the Dieppe  on February 22nd\, Fredericton on February 28
 th\, Edmundston on February 28th\, Bathurst on March 1st\,&nbsp\;Perth-And
 over on March 1st\, Quispamsis on March 3rd\, online on March 14th.
 Thes
 e engagement sessions are being held as a component of the Research and Kn
 owledge Initiative project Supporting Climate Risk Mitigation for Municipa
 lities with Nature-based Infrastructure - Research and Knowledge Initiativ
 e. The New Brunswick Environmental Network is leading this project along w
 ith project partner Nature NB and is supported by an advisory committee in
 cluding representatives from the New Brunswick Climate Change Secretariat\
 , CLIMAtlantic\, Infrastructure Canada\, Union of New Brunswick Municipali
 ties\, and the Association francophone des municipalités du Nouveau-Bruns
 wick. This project is funded in part by Infrastructure Canada and the New
