Working together to develop a Shediac Bay watershed management plan (Virtual Open House)
Thursday 22 October 2020 - 02:00pm - Thursday 22 October 2020 03:30pm
The Department of Environment and Local Government (DELG) would like to invite you to take part in an online open house related to the development of a watershed management plan for the Shediac Bay watershed. Studies undertaken in the Shediac Bay watershed since 2017 have suggested that the development of a watershed management plan is an important next step in addressing water quality issues in the watershed.

In October 2019, DELG began the engagement process for the development of a Shediac Bay watershed management plan. A technical workshop took place in the afternoon of October 17th, 2019 followed by an open house in the evening. Almost 100 stakeholders were invited and engagement with First Nations has been ongoing since the beginning of the project.

During this phase of the engagement process, you are invited to review three documents which can be accessed here:
  • What We Heard public and First Nation engagement summary report.
  • Proposed Vision and Principles for the Shediac Bay watershed management plan (drafted by the Technical Working Group).
  • A summary table of issues and proposed actions based on the input received from the initial engagement program and drafted by the Technical Working Group.

We are also interested in seeing your photographs of the Shediac Bay watershed (e.g. photos of watercourses, wetlands, flora and/or fauna). Select images (where permission from the author has been granted) may be incorporated into the Shediac Bay watershed management plan. Please send your photographs (including contact information) by email to: wmpfeedback/

Considering the current pandemic, in-person engagement activities are not possible at this time however, a virtual open house will be held on Thursday October 22nd, 2020 from 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm where project leads will be available to answer questions about the project. To register, send an email to: wmpfeedback/

All feedback will be taken into consideration when developing the Shediac Bay watershed management plan. Once the plan has been drafted, there will be further opportunities to provide input.
