Food Forests and Beyond
Wednesday 07 October 2020 - 01:00pm - Wednesday 07 October 2020 03:00pm
What does the forest have to teach us? How can we use our observations of nature to grow food sustainably?

This presentation is for those with some knowledge of permaculture - beginner to intermediate level. You will be introduced to concepts, terms, and resources around food forests that you can incorporate into your personal research and planning. This is also a chance to meet some like-minded people, walk around La Solitude and learn about their future permaculture site plans.

The presentation covers broadly, forest systems, food forest production, and creating closed-loop systems.

We will look at:

-how natural forests function and how to mimic them,
-basic methods for propagating trees and shrubs,
-urban and suburban methods,
-design considerations and
using on-site materials in closed-loop/ low-waste systems
local and regional resources

We will do a site walk after the presentation
