Building Environmental Capacity Among Indigenous Nations: Lessons Learned from the Field
Friday 14 August 2020 - 02:00pm - Friday 14 August 2020
Too often, education systems and training providers fail to encompass Indigenous peoples’ diverse cultures, heritage and knowledge in the work that they do. To increase awareness about environmental careers and build environmental capacity within Indigenous communities, educators need to braid environmental Western science and techniques with traditional Indigenous knowledge.

Since 2006, ECO Canada’s BEAHR Indigenous training and employment programs have helped First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities across Canada develop local environmental skills and foster green careers. We have worked with over 237 communities to provide hands on environmental training for over 3,000 students, helping graduates enter the environmental field.

Join us on August 14th at 11:00AM MST (2:00PM ADT) where BEAHR trainers Carol Crowe and Kaitlyn Petrin will be sharing their experiences delivering environmental training to Indigenous Communities.

  • Carol and Kaitlyn’s career journey to becoming a BEAHR trainer
  • Learn from pros through their experiences: tips and tricks for delivering effective environmental training in partnership with Indigenous communities
  • How can you or your organization become a registered BEAHR trainer?
