Invasive Species Removal

To celebrate the first installment of the Pea Point Gazebo Speaker Series, our stewards and staff will be removing invasive species from the nature preserve. Lunch will be provided following the speaker series and before the invasive species removal begins.  Volunteers will help to remove Japanese Knotweed from the preserve to protect the native wildlife that inhabits this preserve.

What to Bring:

  • Closed toed shoes or hiking boots;
  • Appropriate clothing for the weather;
  • Water;
  • Sunscreen and DEET free insect repellent;
  • Work gloves (optional);
Tools for invasive removal like machete, or loppers (optional).

The Connors Bros. Nature Preserve at Pea Point protects roughly 100 acres and 2 km of coastline in Blacks Harbour.  This nature preserve is an important site for numerous shore birds and marine mammals.  The preserve contains a maintained trail system open to the public to enjoy.

How to get here: Participants will be walking a short distance to the nature preserve from the gazebo, which is located at 500 Wallace Cove Road, Blacks Harbour, NB E5H 1H7.
