The Caughey-Taylor Nature Preserve protects approximately 604 acres of biologically rich and diverse coastal habitat. This preserve encompasses the famous Sam Orr’s Pond, a brackish pond created from glacial movements, and is home to many rare plants and animals found nowhere else in the region. The hills surrounding Sam Orr’s Pond contain a mixed-wood forest and the surrounding marsh supports populations of grasses and marsh plants.
