artofsustainability
Annual conference of the Sustainability Education Alliance of New Brunswick
Wednesday, October 24th, 2018

Centennial Park Rotary Lodge, Rotary Lodge Lane, Moncton (please note change in location!)

Art is powerful. Whether we are talking about paintings, photography, theatre, film – all of these can evoke strong emotions and lead to important dialogue. Why is it important to learn about and through art? How can we use art to spark conversations and motivate people – young and old – around environmental issues, social justice, and the similarities and differences that make us human?

Join us to explore these themes with artists, educators, and community leaders from across New Brunswick.

Highlights:
  • Understand the pedagogical reasons for using art to educate with Sabine Lebel, Assistant Professor of Culture and Media Studies at the University of New Brunswick
  • Explore the ways in which artists and educators are using art to spark dialogue on important issues
  • Gain insights on perspectives on urban and rural sustainability with Céline Surette, Université de Moncton, and Matt Rogers, University of New Brunswick
  • Enjoy a musical theatre performance about the life cycle of bees with Mario LeBreton and Delphine Porcherot, Le Pays de la Saguine

For teachers! Release time
for four teachers (two each from Anglophone & Francophone sectors) will be covered on a first-come, first-served basis.
