Deadline for comments on Federal Sustainable Development Strategy 2022-2026
Environment and Climate Change Canada has just launched the draft 2022 to 2026 Federal Sustainable Development Strategy (FSDS) for a 120-day public consultation available for your review at www.fsds-sfdd.ca. The Strategy sets out the Government of Canada's sustainable development priorities from an environmental perspective, establishes goals and targets, and identifies actions to achieve them.
The draft FSDS is the first to be developed under the strengthened Federal Sustainable Development Act improving accountability through time-bound targets and milestones. It is also the first to be framed using the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on their environmental elements.
Your comments will help strengthen the strategy and contribute to a more sustainable Canada. We encourage you to share your thoughts on the draft strategy as well as your sustainable development priorities.
- Do the goals, targets and actions highlighted in the draft strategy cover the key sustainable development issues that the federal government should be focusing on?
- Which sustainable development issue(s) do you think are missing or need more emphasis?
- What do you think is the Government of Canada's primary role in driving sustainable development forward?
- Do we have the right targets and indicators to advance and measure performance?
- What is the future of sustainable development? How do you see this concept changing?
We look forward to receiving your comments by July 9, 2022-. Please share your views by:
