Annual Conference of the New Brunswick Climate Change Adaptation Collaborative,
in partnership with the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies

Nature-based solutions to climate impacts are cutting edge ways to adapt to climate change. Keys to understanding these approaches include not only the technical aspects, but the financial implications as well as the relationships between stakeholders in infrastructure maintenance and adaptation.

If you are interested in exploring nature-based approaches and how best to present these options, this is the conference for you -- the municipal planners, building contractors, developers, engineers and NGOs working on climate adaptation.

Send your letter for secure, affordable, sustainable electricity

Acting on climate change is how we make life affordable

Join our letter-writing campaign calling on the federal government to implement a strong and effective Clean Electricity Regulation that protects our planet, our communities, and our wallets.

The federal government will soon issue a new set of rules to control planet-warming greenhouse gases from the electricity sector. Canada’s electricity system is already less polluting than it used to be because of regulations to phase out the use of coal and our dependence on hydro power. Now it’s time to finish the job.

The proposed Clean Electricity Regulation (CER), coming this spring, needs to take Canada over the finish line by embracing non-emitting energy sources like wind, solar, and hydro power and ditching fossil fuels no later than 2035.

If done right, these regulations will give Canadians a healthier, more affordable and reliable electricity system for years to come. That’s where you come in.

We need you to amplify our call for strong regulation—that means no extensions or loopholes for fossil fuel companies, no more burning stuff to make electricity, and financial support for people to ensure a smooth, fair and stable transition for all.

Support Indigenous Rights and Oppose Fracking

Solidarity Statement Calling for New Brunswick Government to Respect the Right to Free, Prior, Informed Consent for Fracking in NB

You may have heard that Premier Higgs is pressuring Wolastoqey and Mi'kmaw leaders in NB to allow fracking by threatening to withhold funding, and promising future, speculative funding derived from fracking in the province. Please see the reporting on these links.

Higgs is tying new gas supply to pipelines, gas power plants, and as possible gas supply for an LNG project in the region, the Goldboro LNG project in Nova Scotia. All of these plans are without merit.

NBASGA is part of the Stop Atlantic Gas Alliance, a coalition fighting LNG and fracked gas infrastructure in Atlantic Canada, and as always, we are standing in solidarity with indigenous communities who have long opposed fracking in NB, and against this violation of the principle of free, prior, informed consent, and against any moves to open up fracking in NB.
