Federal Comprehensive Land Claims Policy, Public Consultation, 2014

The federal government sought feedback to help reform its comprehensive land claims policy. As a starting point for dialogue, Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada released a document that outlines the Government of Canada's approach to treaty negotiations in 2012, along with key updates. This interim policy responded to calls for change, including some key recommendations of the 2013 Eyford report. This public comment period ended November 30, 2014. Additional information below.
