Put your community's food issues on your MP's plate - May 21 - 25
À : mai 25 at 11:59
From May 6-16, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, Olivier de Schutter, will make an official visit to Canada. This is de Schutter's first mission to an OECD country.
This is an opportunity to shine the light on Canada's broken food system and to educate your MPs about the change we want to see - from the grassroots to the UN.
Making the link between Canada’s current failure to respect, protect and fulfill the right to food for all – and the need for the People’s Food Policy – is a powerful message to bring to our elected officials and the media across the country. To read the People's Food Policy visit Food Secure Canada's website: www.foodsecurecanada.org.
LET'S MAKE A SPLASH - Meet your MP from May 21-25 to:
- put your community's issues on your MP's plate
- ask what they plan to do about Olivier de Schutter's recommendations (that will be announced May 16th)
- educate your MP about why we need a national People's Food Policy, specifically the 5 priorities named in the executive summary.
Book your appointment now! To find your MP using your postal code, click here.
Let's do this together - Report Back! Let's meet as many MPs between May and October 16th (World Food Day) as we can. We want to know who you meet and what they say. Once you've met your MP, fill out this form and send it to us at MPlobby@foodsecurecanada.org OR come back to our website and fill out the form on our website.
There is much more to be done - We want to know what you think we could do together, across Canada, to build the food system we want. Post your ideas or actions that your've already taken to use the People's Food Policy to advance food work in your community or region.
